Sha’ul Taught His Followers Not to Keep the Sabbath
“‘Who are you that judges another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. But he shall be made to stand, for Elohim is able to make him stand. One indeed judges one day above another, another judges every day alike . Let each one be completely persuaded in his own mind. He who minds the day, minds it to יהוה. And he who does not mind the day, to יהוה he does not mind it. He who eats, eats to יהוה, for he gives Elohim thanks. And he who does not eat, to יהוה he does not eat, and gives Elohim thanks.’

“‘But now after you have known Elohim, or rather are known by Elohim, how do you turn again to the weak and poor elementary matters, to which you wish to be enslaved again? You closely observe days and months and seasons and years. I fear for you, lest by any means I have laboured for you in vain.’”

“‘And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having blotted out that which was written by hand against us – by the dogmas – which stood against us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the stake. Having stripped the principalities and the authorities, He made a public display of them, having prevailed over them in it. Let no one therefore judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths – which are a shadow of what is to come – but the Body of the Messiah.’”

יהוה Set-Apart the Seventh Day of the Week as Our Sabbath
‘And in the seventh day Elohim completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And Elohim blessed the seventh day and set it apart, because on it He rested from all His work which Elohim in creating had made.’

‘“Remember the Sabbath day, to set it apart. “Six days you labour, and shall do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of יהוה your Elohim. You do not do any work – you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. “For in six days יהוה made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore יהוה blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart.’

‘“Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, ‘When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall observe a Sabbath to יהוה. ‘Six years you sow your field, and six years you prune your vineyard, and gather in its fruit, but in the seventh year the land is to have a Sabbath of rest, a Sabbath to יהוה. Do not sow your field and do not prune your vineyard. ‘Do not reap what grows of its own of your harvest, and do not gather the grapes of your unpruned vine, for it is a year of rest for the land. ‘And the Sabbath of the land shall be to you for food, for you and your servant, and for your female servant and your hired servant, and for the stranger who sojourns with you, and for your livestock and the beasts that are in your land. All its crops are for food. ‘And you shall count seven Sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years. And the time of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years.’

‘Guard the Sabbath day, to set it apart, as יהוה your Elohim commanded you. Six days you labour, and shall do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of יהוה your Elohim. You do not do any work – you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, so that your male servant and your female servant rest as you do. And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Mitsrayim, and that יהוה your Elohim brought you out from there by a strong hand and by an outstretched arm. ‘Thus said יהוה, “Guard right-ruling, and do righteousness, for near is My deliverance to come, and My righteousness to be revealed. “Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who becomes strong in it, guarding the Sabbath lest he profane it, and guarding his hand from doing any evil. “And let not the son of the foreigner who has joined himself to יהוה speak, saying, ‘יהוה has certainly separated me from His people,’ nor let the eunuch say, ‘Look I am a dry tree.’ ” For thus said יהוה, “To the eunuchs who guard My Sabbaths, and have chosen what pleases Me, and are holding onto My covenant: to them I shall give in My house and within My walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters – I give them an everlasting name that is not cut off. “Also the sons of the foreigner who join themselves to יהוה, to serve Him, and to love the Name of יהוה, to be His servants, all who guard the Sabbath, and not profane it, and are holding onto My covenant – them I shall bring to My set-apart mountain, and let them rejoice in My house of prayer. Their ascending offerings and their slaughterings are accepted on My slaughter-place, for My house is called a house of prayer for all the peoples.” The Master יהוה, who gathers the outcasts of Yisra’ĕl, declares, “I gather still others to him besides those who are gathered to him.”’

יהושע Messiah Instructed Followers of יהוה On Properly Keeping the Sabbath
‘At that time יהושע went through the grain fields on the Sabbath. And His taught ones were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain, to eat. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, “Look, Your taught ones are doing what is not right to do on the Sabbath!” But He said to them, “Have you not read what Dawiḏ did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he went into the House of Elohim and ate the showbread which was not right for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? “Or did you not read in the Torah that on the Sabbath the priests in the Set-apart Place profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? “But I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the Set-apart Place. “And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire compassion and not offering,’ you would not have condemned the blameless. “For the Son of Aḏam is Master of the Sabbath.” And having left there, He went into their congregation. And see, there was a man having a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, “Is it right to heal on the Sabbath?” – so as to accuse Him. And He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, shall not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more worth is a man than a sheep! So it is right to do good on the Sabbath. Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored, as healthy as the other. But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against Him, so as to destroy Him.’

‘And it came to be that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And as they went His taught ones began to pluck heads of grain, and the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why do they do what is not right on the Sabbath?” And He said to them, “Have you never read what Dawiḏ did when he had need and was hungry, he and those with him? How he went into the House of Elohim, while Eḇyathar was high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not right to eat, except for the priests, and he gave it also to those who were with him? And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Aḏam is also Master of the Sabbath.”’

‘And it came to be on a Sabbath that He went through grainfields, and His taught ones were plucking the heads of grain and were eating, rubbing them with the hands. And some of the Pharisees said to them, “Why are you doing what is not right to do on the Sabbath?” And יהושע answering them, said, “Have you not read what Dawiḏ did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him, how he went into the House of Elohim, took and ate the showbread, and also gave some to those with him, which is not right for any but the priests to eat?” And He said to them, “The Son of Aḏam is Master of the Sabbath.” And it also came to be on another Sabbath, that He entered into the congregation and taught, and there was a man whose right hand was withered. And the scribes and Pharisees were watching Him closely, whether He would heal on the Sabbath, for them to find an accusation against Him. And He knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, “Rise and stand in the midst.” And he rose up and stood. Then יהושע said to them, “I ask you, is it right to do good on the Sabbath, or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?” And looking around at them all, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored sound as the other. But they were filled with folly, and were speaking with one another what they should do to יהושע.’

‘And He was teaching in one of the congregations on the Sabbath, and see, there was a woman having a weakening spirit for eighteen years, and was bent over and was unable to straighten up at all. And יהושע, seeing her, called her near and said to her, “Woman, you are loosened from your weakness.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was straightened up, and praised Elohim. But the ruler of the congregation, responding, much displeased that יהושע had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men should work, so come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” Then the Master answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loosen his ox or his donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? And this one, being a daughter of Aḇraham, whom Satan has bound, look, for eighteen years, should she not be loosened from this bond on the Sabbath? And when He said this, all His opponents were put to shame. And all the crowd rejoiced for all the splendid works being done by Him.’

‘And it came to be, as He went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they were watching Him closely. And see, there was a certain man before Him suffering from dropsy. And יהושע responding, spoke to those learned in the Torah and the Pharisees, saying, “Is it right to heal on the Sabbath?” But they were silent. So taking hold of him He healed him, and let him go. And to them He said, “Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, shall not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?” And they were unable to answer Him regarding these matters .’

‘And a certain man was there who had a sickness thirty-eight years. When יהושע saw him lying there, and knowing that he already had been a long time, He said to him, “Do you wish to become well?” The sick man answered Him, “Master, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” יהושע said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man became well, and he took up his bed and was walking. Now it was Sabbath on that day. The Yehuḏim therefore said to him who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, it is not right for you to take up the bed.” He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’ ” Therefore they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for יהושע had moved away, a crowd being in that place. Afterward יהושע found him in the Set-apart Place, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, so that no worse matter befalls you.” The man went away, and told the Yehuḏim that it was יהושע who made him well. And because of this the Yehuḏim persecuted יהושע, and were seeking to kill Him, because He was doing these healings on the Sabbath. But יהושע answered them, “My Father works until now, and I work.” Because of this, then, the Yehuḏim were seeking all the more to kill Him, ‘because not only was He breaking the Sabbath, but He also called Elohim His own Father, making Himself equal with Elohim.’ Therefore יהושע responded and said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son is able to do none at all by Himself, but only that which He sees the Father doing, because whatever He does, the Son also likewise does. “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all that He Himself does. And greater works than these He is going to show Him, in order that you marvel. “For as the Father raises the dead and makes alive, even so the Son makes alive whom He wishes. “For the Father judges no one, but has given all the judgment to the Son, that all should value the Son even as they value the Father. He who does not value the Son does not value the Father who sent Him. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me possesses everlasting life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. “Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of Elohim. And those having heard shall live. For as the Father possesses life in Himself, so He gave also to the Son to possess life in Himself,” and He has given Him authority also to do judgment, because He is the Son of Aḏam. “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the tombs shall hear His voice, and shall come forth – those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have practised evil matters , to a resurrection of judgment. Of Myself I am unable to do any matter . As I hear, I judge, and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own desire, but the desire of the Father who sent Me. “If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true. “There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true. “You have sent to Yoḥanan, and he bore witness to the truth. “But I do not receive witness from man, but I say this in order that you might be saved. “He was the burning and shining lamp, and for a while you wished to rejoice in his light. “But I have a greater witness than that of Yoḥanan, for the works that the Father gave Me to accomplish, the works that I do, bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. And the Father who sent Me, He bore witness of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. “And you do not have His Word staying in you, because you do not believe Him whom He sent. “You search the Scriptures, because you think you possess everlasting life in them. And these are the ones that bear witness of Me. “But you do not desire to come to Me in order to possess life. I do not receive esteem from men,” but I know you, that you do not have the love of Elohim in you. “I have come in My Father’s Name and you do not receive Me, if another comes in his own name, him you would receive. How are you able to believe, when you are receiving esteem from one another, and the esteem that is from the only Elohim you do not seek?” “Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Mosheh, in whom you have set your expectation. “For if you believed Mosheh, you would have believed Me, since he wrote about Me. “But if you do not believe his writings, how shall you believe My words?”’

‘And about the middle of the festival יהושע went up into the Set-apart Place, and He was teaching. And the Yehuḏim were marvelling, saying, “How does this Man know letters, not having learned?” יהושע answered them and said, “My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone desires to do His desire, he shall know concerning the teaching, whether it is from Elohim, or whether I speak from Myself. “He who speaks from himself is seeking his own esteem, but He who seeks the esteem of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him. “Did not Mosheh give you the Torah? Yet not one of you does the Torah! Why do you seek to kill Me?” The crowd answered and said, “You have a demon, who seeks to kill You?” יהושע answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you all marvel. “Because of this Mosheh has given you the circumcision – though it is not from Mosheh, but from the fathers – and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the Torah of Mosheh should not be broken, are you wroth with Me because I made a man entirely well on the Sabbath?” Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.’

‘And passing by, He saw a man, blind from birth. And His taught ones asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?” יהושע answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of Elohim might be made manifest in him. “It is necessary for Me to work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day – night is coming, when no one is able to work. “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Having said this, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and applied the clay to the eyes of the blind man. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Shiloaḥ” (which means Sent). So he went and washed, and came seeing. Therefore the neighbours and those who saw him before, that he was blind, said, “Is not this he who was sitting and begging?” Others said, “This is he.” Others said , “He is like him.” He said, “I am.” So they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?” He answered and said, “A Man called יהושע made clay and applied it to my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Shiloaḥ and wash.’ And I went and washed, and I received sight.” And they said to him, “Where is He?” He said, “I do not know.” They brought to the Pharisees the one who was once blind. Now it was a Sabbath when יהושע made the clay and opened his eyes. Therefore the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.” Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from Elohim, because He does not guard the Sabbath.” Others said, “How is a man who is a sinner able to do such miracles?” And there was a division among them. So they said to the blind one again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?” And he said, “He is a prophet.” However, the Yehuḏim did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, till they called the parents of him who had received his sight. And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?” His parents answered them and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind, but how he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age, ask him, he shall speak concerning himself.” His parents said this because they were afraid of the Yehuḏim, for the Yehuḏim had already agreed that if anyone confessed that He was Messiah, he should be put out of the congregation. Because of this his parents said, “He is of age, ask him.” So for the second time they called the man who was blind, and said to him, “Give esteem to Elohim, we know that this Man is a sinner.” Then he answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner, I do not know. I only know that I was blind, now I see.” And they asked him once more, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?” He answered them, “I have told you already, and you did not hear. Why do you wish to hear it again? Do you wish to become His taught ones too?” Then they abused him and said, “You are His taught one, but we are taught ones of Mosheh. We know that Elohim has spoken to Mosheh, but this One, we do not know where He is from. The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a wonder! You do not know where He is from, yet He opened my eyes! And we know that Elohim does not hear sinners. But if anyone fears Elohim and does His desire, He hears him. “From of old it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. “If this One were not from Elohim, He could have done none at all.” They answered and said to him, “You were completely born in sins – and are you teaching us?” And they cast him out. יהושע heard that they had cast him out, and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of Elohim?” He answered and said, “Who is He, Master, that I might believe in Him?” And יהושע said to him, “You have both seen Him and He who speaks with you is He.” And he said, “Master, I believe,” and bowed before Him. And יהושע said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those not seeing might see, and those seeing might become blind.” And those of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind, too?” יהושע said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin, but now you say, ‘We see,’ therefore your sin remains.’

יהושע Messiah Revealed to Followers of יהוה that Sabbath-Keeping Will Apply, Even During Tribulation and End Times
“So when you see the ‘abomination that lays waste,’ spoken of by Dani’ĕl the prophet, set up in the set-apart place” – he who reads, let him understand – “then let those who are in Yehuḏah flee to the mountains. “Let him who is on the house-top not come down to take whatever out of his house. “And let him who is in the field not turn back to get his garments. And woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing children in those days!” “And pray that your flight does not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there shall be great distress, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.”
